The aim of this workshop is to work on Violaine Bérot’s novel “Tombée des nues”. Through a series of intertwining voices, Violaine Bérot tells the story of a confusing motherhood. Based on the Cie Kokodyniack adaptation of this novel, we tackled a series of monologues and seven choral parts.
“In this adaptation, I sought to recapture the musicality of the text and its precision by incorporating breathing and various pauses. This score serves as a basis for integrating the students into the writing process. The aim of this project is to convey some of the key principles of our company. The interpretative work could be summarised as a body that allows itself to be observed, permeated by a very precise score. The exercise of “allowing oneself to be seen” involves paying close attention to the gaze we cast on others, on ourselves and on the space around us. There is a whole range of gazes in space, which we call: the space of thought, of projection, of memory, of doubt, of address, etc.
This practice allows the performer to actualise this writing in the immediacy of the stage, while summoning the time of memory and projection. In directing actors, it is not a question of composing characters, but rather of showing the actor in their purest form. It is a question of being the conduit for a score in which the character takes shape through the eyes of the spectator. “
